Balance Yoga Earth

About Us:

Nova-Founder and RYT-500

During my time in Canada, I was hired by the Canadian Armed Forces to teach yoga and meditation to cultivate calm and relaxation post-tour. The Canadian Olympic Swimming Team commissioned me to give Pranayama and Mediation Yoga sessions prior to competition.

My extensive training includes studies in India with renowned Vedantic teacher Yogi Vishvketu and with the faculty of Yogic Studies at the World Yoga Family in Rishikesh, India.

I have also completed advanced studies with many prominent teachers such as David Swenson (2nd Series teacher training)  Matthew Sweeney, Paul Grilley, Shiva Rea, John Friend, Sarah Powers, AcroYoga, John Scott and Michael Gannon. And I continue to study, as it is a life long journey.

I am a fully insured and certified RYT500 Yoga teacher and Yoga Therapist.

My teaching style has been inspired by these many different teachers and types of yoga. In my teaching I draw the styles together into creative sequences: in particular the meditative and breath-led fluidity of Ashtanga, the safe alignment and body awareness of Iyengar, the holistic approach of Akanada, the heart opening grace of Anusara, and Yin yoga’s ability to access the blocked and tight places within us. I try to encourage students to listen to the dialogue of their own unique body, whilst at the same time providing gentle, discerning guidance and a sense of lightness and fun.

I currently run a private Yoga Therapy practise in London, England where my clients include many prominent people, from film, fashion, art and the music industry (I was commissioned by Eagle Rock Records to assist in their Madonna documentary). I also teach open classes, for more info please look at the workshops and classes page.

About Florence..

Alliance Yoga 500 Hr Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT500E) Experienced

Although a double University degree in History and Geology as well as a long career as a Tribologist might seem an unlikely background for a yoga teacher, Florence's lifelong love of this practice has brought all her eclectic skills and training to bear and to compliment her Yoga teaching techniques.

Florence worked for the YWCA of Canada as the Total Fitness Consultant for many years, traveling across that large country, instituting courses to enhance the fitness and well-being of the members. It was during that time that she noticed that phycsical fitness alone is not sufficient to deal with the demands of modern life. She began her investigation of the Yoga practice and found that it supplied the missing ingredients that physical fitness alone did not supply. The Union of Mind, Body and Spirit taught in all the various yoga schools is what brings the individual into balance. Concentrating on only one aspect of this brings one into imbalance. So Florence began to devote herself to the complete understanding of the Yoga Philosophy and teachings.
She has been teaching here in the UK for over 20 years now.

She teaches in various venues from Yoga Shalas, Studios, AE Institues, Health Clubs, and private homes.
Florence studied and trained in Iyengar, Astanga, Hatha, Yin and Silver Age Anti aging yoga styles. She has studied with Patabi Jois, BS Iyengar, John Scott, Paul Grilley, World Family Yoga, Himalayan Institute and many Ashrams in the USA, Canada and India to further her understanding and development of the union of mind, body and spirit taught in Yoga.

Florence has given yoga retreats and workshops in Europe, Canada, North Africa, North America and some Caribbean locations. She is very well respected and sought after as a private and studio yoga teacher because of her unique style of teaching. This is a combination of all the Yogic techniques she has studied and integrated into what each particular student or class requires. Her classes are always varied and never boring.
